 Charlize Theron Being Sued
Although her legal team tried to have the case dismissed, Charlize Theron has to go to the Federal Court of the Southern District of New York because she is being sued by the Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil for a breach-of-contract, according to the Daily News.
The actress who won an Oscar in 2004 for her role in Monster is said to have been paid “substantial funds” – which are said to be $20 million to be the “new face” of Weil. She had to wear the company’s timepieces exclusively from October 2005 to December 2006, according to the original court papers. The suit Weil has against its former brand face claims that while she was having a contract with them, Charlize also was the face of a Dior perfume and that she “was actually photographed wearing a watch from the Christian Dior line” at a press event in Austin, Texas in 2004. A photograph of Theron wearing the Dior watch was included between the documents in the suit. Weil seeks to get a refund of those “substantial funds”, as the Daily News reports. |
