Fame is so important to pop sensation Lady Gaga, she "would die" if it was taken away from her.
GaGa has found huge global fame with hits Just Dance and Poker Face, just months after making the transition from New York club performer to international pop star.
But she insists she was destined to be a star, and wouldn't exist without celebrity.
GaGa tells Fox News, "I was told for a very long time that I was not pretty enough, too strange, not edgy enough. But I've always been famous; it is just that nobody knew".
"There are times when it can be a lot to deal with, but always when I get up in the morning I try to find that very joyful place that reminds me that I would die if someone took it all away. If someone did that I wouldn't be a person any more".
Meanwhile Lady Gaga is bearing all on the front cover of the new issue of music bible Rolling Stone - the Poker Face singer dons nothing but heavy make-up and a see-through bubble corset for the provocative shot.
The bubbles are carefully placed to cover her nipples and genitalia.
GaGa, real name Stefani Germanotta, admits she was thrilled when Rolling Stone editors called with their photo shoot ideas: "When they told me about it I nearly cried."
Inside the upcoming issue of the magazine, GaGa poses for another saucy shot - standing naked in her bubble corset amid a group of foam covered naked bodies.
